![]() Skin Care tips for Sensitive SkinSensitive Skin? Then you want to avoid:
1. Sunscreens that contain anything other than Titanium and Zinc Oxide as the active ingredients. It is nearly impossible to have a reaction to these two sunblock agents. 2. Avoid cleansers and toners that contain alcohol or benzoyl peroxide as these tend to be too strong for sensitive skin. 3. Thinking you're safe with products claiming to be "Hypoallergenic" - Hypoallergenic skin care products are not necessarily safer for sensitive skin. The FDA states there are no federal standards governing manufacturers’ use of the term “hypoallergenic” - so it can mean whatever a particular company wants it to mean. 4. Products with synthetic fragrances. According to Better Health Magazine, "Fragrance in personal-care products is the second most common cause of allergic skin reaction (after nickel in jewelry)." 5. Parabens are a collective group of preservatives that have been used by the cosmetic industry for years to reduce bacterial growth in their products. Many Parabens start with the prefix of methyl, ethyl, butyl, or propyl and are irritating to the skin as well as controversial to your over all health. 6. Choose wisely when in comes to exfoliating scrubs. Many scrubs are irritating to sensitive skin. Ground seeds, such as apricot, almond and walnut seeds are too harsh because they have rough edges, and can actually cause tiny cuts in the skin. 7. Any product with colorants in it. Color looks appealing in a jar or bottle but dyes or colorants can cause irritation from moderate to severe. Posted Comments
